Lon Wilson - President & CEO

Lon currently serves as Managing Member for Wilson Albers and Company, LLC and President and CEO for its subsidiary companies: Albers & Company, Inc., The Wilson Agency, LLC and ConnectHR, LLC. He has a home in the Puget Sound area and splits his time between his Albers & Company office and The Wilson Agency.

After joining his father at The Wilson Agency in 1989, he became a Principal in 1991. Through his strategic leadership, he has succesfully developed a family of companies serving the employee benefits and human resource needs of organizations throughout the Northwest. He is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), current Board Chair for United Benefits Advisors (UBA) and past President of Alaska Association of Health Underwriters. In Alaska he was Chairman of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, a board member of the Providence Health & Services Community Ministry Board in Alaska and a member of the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau of Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington.

Outside of work, Lon enjoy friends and family time at his lake property, travel, fine wine and gourmet food, as well as experiencing events such as sports, concerts and cultural performances.

Jeff Albers, CFP®CLU®ChFC®AIF® - Retirement Plan and Financial Services Director

 After several years in the securities and life insurance industry with a large international firm, Jeff joined his oldest brother, Steve, and Albers & Co. in 1995 to specialize in employer sponsored retirement programs and individual investments.

Jeff’s greatest passion is helping people improve their “financial wellness”, and better prepare them for financial independence. Jeff obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington School of Business and is an avid Husky fan.

Jennifer Bundy-Cobb, CEBS - Health and Welfare Services Director 

Jennifer has been providing her expertise at our firm for over 20 years.  Since entering the insurance industry in 1990, she has developed a strong background in alternate funding and health plan risk management in both the public and private sectors. According to Jennifer, one of her greatest achievements is having successfully navigated her team through a variety of benefits challenges, including Health Care Reform. Jennifer enjoys sharing her industry experience with the community as a charter member of the Alaska Chapter of the National Health Underwriters Associations and through participation on a variety of advisory committees, including active involvement with United Benefit Advisors. Her hard work earned her a designation as one of the “Top 40 under 40” by the Alaska Journal of Commerce/Alaska Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and a membership to the exclusive ATHENA Society in 2015.

When Jennifer is not splitting her time between our offices in Tacoma and Anchorage, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and two wheaten terriers.

Cherie Hendrix - Health & Welfare Services Sr. National Accounts Advisor

Cherie is a top industry expert with over 16 years of experience in the benefits industry. Her experience includes benefit program strategy, health care reform (PPACA) guidance, financial analysis, account management and customer service. Prior to joining the Wilson Albers & Company team, she worked as Principal and Senior Consultant for Mercer Health & Benefits where she focused on mid-sized to large employers with benefit plans ranging from 200 to more than 15,000 employees, multi-state employers and professional services companies. Cherie is a member of the Employee Benefits Planning Association (EBPA) and holds life and disability licenses in 18 states to accommodate contracting. Cherie holds a B.A. in French with Minor in Business from the Seattle University and serves as a volunteer for the French American School of Puget Sound.

Margery Pratt CEBS, RHU, REBC - Health & Welfare Services Client Support Manager

Margery joined our sister company, The Wilson Agency, in 1992 after she earned a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Washington. Never one to stop learning, Margery has acquired the distinguished designations of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist from the International Foundation of Employee Benefits, Registered Health Underwriter and Registered Employee Benefits Consultant from The American College. With her extensive experience and education in group employee benefits, she is responsible for overseeing the Client Services department, ensuring our clients receive an exceptional level of service.

In her free time Margery enjoys spending time with her family, camping in the family RV, and reading.

Bob Bentley - Health & Welfare Services Underwriting, Analytics and Compliance Manager

Bob has over 25 years of health insurance experience managing, underwriting, and analyzing data with employers of all sizes. His area of expertise include cost management strategies, claims data analytics, and health care reform compliance. His work has garnered several awards including, President's Circle Award, Outstanding Service Award, Regional Champion Award, Crystal Apple Award, Golden Acorn Award, among others. Bentley received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Philosophy from Central Washington University.

When Bob is not reading the latest regulations that were issued, he can be found spending time with his family; particularly his grandsons.

 Anna Donaca- Health & Welfare Services Analyst 

Anna joins Albers & Company as of September 2016. She  graduated from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California with a degree in Business Marketing. She is a Pacific Northwest native, growing up in a suburb of Portland, Oregon. Having experienced the importance of life insurance first-hand, she realized the impact that insurance decisions have on families. This led her to pursue an internship with New York Life as a College Agent, and then a more behind-the-scenes role with M Benefit Solutions. She is excited to utilize her passion for providing exceptional client service in her role at Albers & Company.

In her spare time, you can find Anna walking her Maltipoo, Bella, trying out a new restaurant, or playing tennis. She loves traveling and spending time with her family in Oregon and Montana.

Pete Delyanis, CEBS - Retirement Plan & Financial Services Account Strategist 

Pete comes to Albers with over 20 years’ experience in retirement plan management, 17 of which were with Russell Investments where he helped organizations design, implement and manage their group retirement plans and investment programs.   Pete has a strong focus on customer service and a keen eye for regulatory compliance – a unique combination of traits that plan sponsors value highly.  Pete graduated from Central Washington University with a B.S. in Business Economics.  While in college he served as the President of the Business & Economics Club and played on the front row of Central’s rugby team.

Away from work, Pete loves to spend time in the outdoors with his friends and family – particularly boating, fishing, camping and snowshoeing.  He also serves as Treasurer for the Pierce County Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association, a grass roots organization that aims to conserve, promote and enhance coastal resources for the general public.

Bonnie Gentry, RHU, REBC - Health & Welfare Services Advisor 

Bonnie is a local gal, Federal Way native, studying Health and Education at Highline Community College as well as University of Puget Sound. Bonnie took her class room knowledge, applied it to insurance and quickly became recognized as a top health insurance claims examiner. She eventually found her way into the physician networking and contracting arena. After several years learning the various aspects of the carrier side, Bonnie brought her experiences to the brokerage side. She is dedicated to servicing her clients and has been happily doing so for nearly 16 years now. Always wanting to improve her knowledge, Bonnie received her Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation as well as her Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) designation because to Bonnie, customer service comes first!

In her free time, Bonnie enjoys being outdoors, hanging with her furry friends or if it is winter, you will find her engaged in an NHL game - go Red Wings!!

Kerry Hartz - Health & Welfare Services Client Support Specialist

Kerry is one of our newest team members, but is certainly not new to the insurance business.  He’s not sure if he wants to always admit it, but he started back in 1985 (at KCMBS, or King County Medical Blue Shield, now Regence Blue Shield).  Over the years, he has also worked with both small and large insurance brokerage firms, as well as a couple of Third Party Administrators, and has experience working on employer groups of all sizes and types. 

He enjoys working in the yard, but doesn’t always enjoy the process of attempting (bribing?) to get his son to help with yard work.  He also enjoys working out at the health club, bicycle riding, and going on family outings.

Joey Mertlich - Business Development Executive 

Joey grew up locally and is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University. He studied Exercise Science and played football for the NCAA Division III Lutes. He is also a veteran having served in the Washington Air National Guard. Joey spent 5 years calling on healthcare accounts as a pharmaceutical sales representative in the South Puget Sound region. Then he transitioned into financial services as an investment advisor specializing in insurance products. Joey is excited to combine his passion for health, business, and people at Albers & Company. 

When Joey is away from the office, he enjoys movies, learning and going on adventures with his wife, Heidi, and their three children.

Brent Price, ChFC®, CASL®, RICP®, CLTC - Retirement Plan & Financial Services Advisor

Brent was drawn to the financial services industry in 1997 by a desire to reach out and make a difference and has been a member of the Albers & Company team since 2002. He’s passionate about working with individuals; teaching them how to build & protect wealth and wants to “save America… one family at a time”. He presents workshops on a number of topics relating to financial planning and believes that conducting frank, one-on-one discussions is the most important work that he does. His educational background, majoring in Business Management at Southern Oregon State, coupled with 15 years in management and business ownership, combine to provide him with a unique perspective when working with clients.

He and his wife, Joan, live in Lakewood and have three grown sons and three beautiful granddaughters. He enjoys spending time with family, traveling, playing games, camping, bicycle riding, and playing golf.

Jennifer Prowell - Support Services Manager

As Support Services Manager, Jennifer works across our companies to support the people that support our clients. She works hand in hand with external vendors and internal clients to develop and maintain IT infrastructure, manage facilities and ensure positive customer relations. Prior to joining our family, Jennifer spent close to eight years at Arctic IT. Through her role as Account Manager she developed strong customer service skills that enabled her to seamlessly transition into her current role. Her experience also includes 12 years in law enforcement, including five years with the U.S. Army.

Jennifer is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional and is currently furthering her education at Alaska Pacific University. When she’s not acting as an IT guru, you can find Jennifer enthusiastically rooting for the Red Sox.

Carrie Reed- Health & Welfare Services Manager of Analytics

Carrie joined The Wilson Agency in 2016 and has over 16 years of experience in the employee benefits industry.  She began her healthcare career in patient services for a large nonprofit medical provider organization. In 2001, she joined a small local brokerage firm working on small group and individual benefit plans.  She then moved to a brokerage firm that focused on mid-size to larger group business.  It was here that she gained experience in underwriting and marketing.  Over the years, she has continued to increase her knowledge in the industry and has become proficient in analytics and underwriting. Her primary focus for the past 10 years has been on large experience rated and self-insured books of business.

Carrie prides herself on her attention to detail and her commitment to providing high quality deliverables to her clients. She holds her Washington State agent’s license in Life and Disability.  She comes highly recommended and is well liked and respected by peers, carriers and clients.

 

Carrie is an avid Seahawks fan, who enjoys attending live comedy shows and music concerts. Her favorite getaways are to the San Juan Islands or Bend, OR.

Brittany graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resources. She is a Tacoma native, born and raised in University Place. Brittany joined the Albers team in 2011, and is constantly learning and continuing to grow her position. She enjoys bringing fresh and new ideas to the Albers team. 

In her spare time, you can find Brittany and her husband working hard on a new diy project around their house. She loves spending time with her family, traveling to Idaho, and walking her dog Finn.

Elizabeth has dedicated herself to the world of Employee Benefits since 1994.  She came to Albers & Company in May, 1999 eager to learn more and to be a part of a local family operated business with an established reputation emphasizing total customer service. Elizabeth has embraced her evolving and expanding role with Albers building and enriching relationships with everyone she connects with.  Her position as “Strategist” facilitates the opportunity to partner with both coworkers and clients to ensure everyone stays on track with the Workplace Benefit plan.  She has enhanced her effectiveness with several industry recognized accreditations including Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), one of the highest achievable.

When not at work, you will find ET out on the trails walking and racking up mileage in preparation for her next event, whether it be the Rock-n-Roll ½ Marathon, Susan G. Komen 3-day or the local Heart Walk.

Jeff Van Ry - Retirement Plan & Financial Services Investment Strategist 

Jeff became interested in investing when he realized the best part of his first job was learning about investment options for his 401(k) and convincing his co-workers investing was a good idea. He has experienced many facets of the investment industry from sales to operations and prior to joining Albers in 2013 he worked for Russell Investments. Jeff is a proud graduate of the University of Redlands in Southern California.

In 1998 Jeff and his wife settled down in the North End of Tacoma. When not in the office he spends time with his daughters, enjoying local sports, and is sometimes seen at Wilson HS sporting events.  An occasional marathoner, Jeff can be found on the weekends running the neighborhoods between UPS and Point Defiance Park.

Kristin Verone - Support Services Coordinator

Kristin joined the Albers & Company team in December 1997.  She graduated with a BA in Administrative Office Management from Central Washington University.  As one of the most tenured employees of Albers & Company, she has been a “jack of many trades” – starting out as an Administrative Assistant and then a Client Service Specialist, to a Health & Welfare Services Analyst/Network Coordinator.  Her primary role now is to provide guest and employee services. Her responsobilities include facilities, IT, client reception, office equipment, safety and security, and general office administration.  She is also our resident IT guru who manages all our computer infrastructure and internal database.

When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids (yes, she often wonders how she can juggle it all).  She would like to say she is Wonder Woman in disguise, but doesn’t think the costume would be very flattering on her.

Julie joined the Albers team in December of 1996. She graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation (no, this doesn’t mean she plays around the office all day).  Julie works in communications, creating the necessary pieces needed to help individuals understand the ever-evolving benefits world.  Whether it’s an online benefits portal, employee benefit booklet, a Jellyvision presentation or an educational flyer, she feels good knowing her clients are being taken care of and hopefully, understanding their benefits better.

When not at work, she is busy being chauffeur for her daughters’ extra-curricular activities and helping out at their schools.
